WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT EVENT PRECINCTS?
There are a number of distinct event precincts, catering to all types of festival go-ers.

Steampacket Gardens – The Festival of Sails Main Arena
Steampacket Gardens is the main activity hub of the festival, with a wide range of entertainment, festival food and siteholder stalls.

Fairnie Park – The Festival of Sails Regional Food & Wine Showcase
Fairnie Park is where the music will be laid back and acoustic, enabling patrons to sit in a relaxed atmosphere whilst sampling a nice glass of local wine and plate of the region’s best foods.

Royal Geelong Yacht Club – The Festival of Sails Regatta Village
Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC) is the heart of the regatta and home to all the visiting yachties. The yacht club will be the night time licenced entertainment venue.

Eastern Beach – The Festival of Sails ‘Come & Try’ Zone
Eastern Beach will offer a family friendly come and try experience which will enable children and adults to safely try a range of beach based activities, such as sailing, wind surfing, kite boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, beach volleyball and outrigger canoeing..

Transvaal Square – The Festival of Sails Kids Zone
The grassed area of Transvaal Square will be turned into a fun filled kid friendly zone with low impact entertainment for under 12s.

HOW DO I GET TO GEELONG?
Getting to Geelong is easy! Located less than an hour from Melbourne, there are plenty of options for transportation to Geelong from the Melbourne CBD.

Drive
Travelling to Geelong is an easy drive along the Princes Freeway, and should take no more than an hour.

Fly
Geelong has its’ own airport at Avalon, which is just under half an hour away from the city centre. Avalon Airport services Jetstar and Tiger Airways flights to and from most major Australian cities. Hire cars and a shuttle service are also available from this point. Further information is available at www.avalonairportshuttle.com.au.
Alternatively, the Ring Road from Melbourne International Airport at Tullamarine makes the journey to Geelong a breeze.

Bus
Daily bus services arrive from interstate to Melbourne and connections to Geelong can be made via rail or connecting shuttle services.

Ferry
The Peninsula Searoad Ferry provides a car and passenger ferry service connecting the Mornington Peninsula to the Bellarine Peninsula. The service runs hourly from 7am to 7pm, every day. Geelong is a short 30 minute drive from the ferry disembarking point at Queenscliff. Ticket information is available at www.searoad.com.au.
Train
Trains from interstate and capital cities arrive at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station allowing ongoing connections to Geelong. See www.vline.com.au for further timetable and ticketing information.

The Waterfront Festival will feature fantastic free family entertainment with over 60 acts across three stages, over 80 stall holders and great food and wine, all along the Geelong Waterfront and Royal Geelong Yacht Club.

The unique precincts of the Waterfront Festival offer something for everyone. Whether you are after fine food and wine, festival food, art and craft stalls, kids or adult stage entertainment, on water activities to try or simple a good, family day out, the Waterfront Festival has something that will suit you and your family. Each precinct will have its own specific theming, to make it easy for you to decide which of the precincts are ideal for your time at the Festival of Sails.

STEAMPACKET GARDENSTHE FESTIVAL OF SAILS MAIN ARENA
Steampacket Gardens is the main activity hub of the festival. Here the main stage offers a wide range of acts from kids’ entertainment through to rock bands. With a wide range of festival food and siteholder stalls, this area will again draw major crowds to the event.

FAIRNIE PARKTHE FESTIVAL OF SAILS REGIONAL FOOD & WINE SHOWCASE
Fairnie Park will be a showcase of gourmet food and wine. The music will be laid back and acoustic entertainment, enabling patrons to sit in a relaxed atmosphere whilst sampling a nice glass of local wine and plate of amazing food.

This precinct features regional wineries, local food producers and high end gourmet foods, such as;

EASTERN BEACHTHE FESTIVAL OF SAILS CENTRAL GEELONG MARKETING ‘COME & TRY’ ZONE
Eastern Beach will be a family friendly come and try experience zone which will enable children and adults to safely try a range of beach based activities, such as sailing, wind surfing, kite boarding, stand up paddle boarding, beach volleyball and outrigger canoeing.

Who will be exhibiting at Eastern Beach?
Aside from the on-water activities, this precinct will be buzzing with Arts and Craft exhibitors and a small selection of festival food and beverage operators, such as;

The Festival of Sails ‘Come & Try Zone’ at Eastern Beach is proud to be associated with the Geelong Multi Sport Festival being held from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 February, 2012. Now in its’ second year, the Geelong Multi Sport Festival 2012 is poised to present this hallmark event to a passionate market. The three-day multi sport festival not only brings together some of the world’s best elite athletes, but also competitive age group triathletes, while also catering for sporting enthusiasts, active life stylists and a host of community based events accessible to everyone. TRANSVAAL SQUARETHE FESTIVAL OF SAILS KIDS ZONE
The grassed area of Transvaal Square will be a fun filled kid friendly zone with low impact entertainment for under 12’s.

ROYAL GEELONG YACHT CLUBTHE FESTIVAL OF SAILS REGATTA VILLAGE
Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC) is the heart of the regatta and home to all the visiting yachties. RGYC will be the night time licenced entertainment venue. So, as the sun goes down you can come and party well into the night (and morning) with the yachties. During the day RGYC will house a dedicated marine trade and boating lifestyle exhibition. Here you will be able to view boating and lifestyle displays as you enter the Yacht Club.

Who will be exhibiting in Royal Geelong Yacht Club?
Sites in this marine exhibition area will be filled with boating and lifestyle product exhibitors and displays, such as;

  • Trailable Boats (Sail & Power) & PWCs
  • Chandlery & Marine Accessories
  • Marine Based Product Retailers (e.g. Fishing Gear, Safety Gear, Electronics)
  • Clothing
  • Tourism Destinations & Charter Operators

In addition to the marine exhibition, RGYC will be filled with food and beverage operators as well as providing fantastic stage entertainment.
